  An old private house and a traditional Japanese sword can transport us to the world of period drama...

  Swords were a familiar sight in Japan until about 150 years ago. As such, swords appear in period dramas, and recently they have been used in popular cartoons where children wave toy swords around, but today we rarely have the opportunity to come into contact with real swords.

  Experiencing cutting straw with a serious weapon

  This is a serious straw cutting experience. First, you will practice swinging a wooden sword, then switch to sword and cut three pieces of rolled straw per person. It takes about one hour. The instructor is a medalist in the National Iai Battou Competition.

  It is an exhilarating feeling when you make a clean cut.

  How heavy is a real sword? How do you hold it? You may be nervous at first because it will most likely be your first experience with a real sword and its sharpness, but don't worry, the instructor will carefully guide you through the process. With an old house in the background, you will feel like a popular character or someone you've always wanted to be in a historical drama!
